There really is something quite magical about vision boards. When I first heard about them I thought, “Oh what a fun little activity!”
And did nothing.
Eighteen months ago I saw an ad for a vision board workshop. At the time, I was mentoring a young girl who shared my enjoyment of crafting and, once again, thought, “Oh what a fun little activity!”
And promptly registered us both for the workshop.
I had no idea that this “little activity” was about to propel me onto a new course in life.
At the beginning of the workshop we all did the Life Balance Wheel exercise. It turned out my wheel (read: life) was way out of balance. After a short discussion all the participants started paging through the huge selection of magazines provided, to search for images and words that “spoke” to us. We cut them out and glued them onto our large sheet of cardboard, creating our vision board.
At the end of the workshop I realized I didn’t have enough pictures that really resonated with me, so over the next few days I did online searches and printed out the photos I wanted to add to my board. Once completed, I put it in my home office so that I could see it every day.
These are just some of the photos that I included:
My husband and I had been talking about changing our lifestyle and environment, and one of the things on our bucket list was to own a vineyard. I loved the style of the house above, and the vineyard overlooking the lake just blew me away. As well, I wanted to travel to Europe, in particular through Italy.
This is the house in which we now live (we moved in one month ago)…
This is our vineyard (we can actually see the lake from the very top corner of the property, albeit a peek-a-boo view)…
A year ago my extended family wanted us all to meet up in the Mediterranean for a holiday in July. Sadly, the trip had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. However it’s quite possible that the family might come visit and help us with harvesting next year!
Oh, and I also completed an International Coach Federation accredited course and became a Life Coach!
So what is it about a vision board that makes it such a powerful tool of attraction? I know it might sound a little woo-woo but I really do believe in the Law of Attraction – if you send out your “want” to the universe, and feel the excitement of having it already, the universe will respond in your favour. I think that the key elements are repetition and real feeling. Seeing your “wants” on a vision board multiple times a day, helps send out that message regularly. It’s like visual affirmations!
Have you ever created a vision board? What dreams have become reality for you? Let me know. Either type in a comment or send me an email. I’d love to hear from you!
